Charlottetown-Belvedere MLA Hannah Bell will not be running in the 2023 provincial election.CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Charlottetown-Belvedere MLA Hannah Bell has announced that she will not be running in the 2023 provincial general election.
Her byelection win was a dramatic signal of the rise in popularity of the P.E.I. Green party in the leadup to the 2019 election. The Progressive Conservatives ended up winning the 2019 election while the Greens became the Official Opposition, besting the then-incumbent Liberals. An emailed statement by Bell, issued by the Office of the Official Opposition, listed several policy changes Bell said she took pride in, including securing a renoviction moratorium for tenants, winning a $10-million increase to social assistance rates, introducing the Poverty Elimination Strategy Act and establishing an ostomy support program.
