‘Please Dad. Come home,’ his son wrote on Facebook
A 71-year old grandfather who regularly went to the airport to greet refugees was among the victims identified Friday in a deadly mass shooting at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.
According to a chilling live stream video of the Al Noor mosque attack posted by the gunman, as the gunman approached the entrance to the mosque, a worshipper can be overheard greeting him, saying, “hello brother.”Forty-one people were killed at the Al Noor mosque, and another seven at the Linwood mosque. One person died at hospital. Children were among them.
“He’s helped everyone who’s a refugee,” Omar said. “Whether you’re from Palestine, Iraq, Syria — he’s been the first person to hold his hand up.”
