Medicare rebate back to patients just “hasn’t kept pace” with the cost of “providing high-quality comprehensive care”, Australian Medical Association Vice President Dr Danielle McMullen says.
“GPs have increasingly struggled to keep their doors open, provide that care to patients at a low or no cost,” she told Sky News Australia.
“The government does need to step in here to make general practice more affordable to patients, and that’s where we see that we need some short-term action to make sure that we can continue to provide care, particularly to our most vulnerable patients.”
