KUALA LUMPUR: Despite the conclusion of the MH17 case, the government remains committed to ensure the rights of the victims are safeguarded, says Anthony Loke (PH-Seremban).
He said that the government has also channelled a total of RM27,849,000 of contributions throughout the proceedings of the case.“We will continue to pursue this issue on various platforms, which include discussing the position of the Malaysian government with Wisma Putra,” he said when winding up his ministerial replies on Budget 2023 at the committee stage in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday .
He was responding to R. Yuneswaran’s recommendation for the government to condemn the perpetrators who shot down MH17 in July 2014. He urged the government through the Transport Ministry to fight for the rights and dignity of Malaysians that were affected by the unfortunate incident. On Nov 17, Reuters reported that Dutch judges convicted two Russian men and a Ukrainian man in absentia of murder for their role in the shooting down of Flight MH17 over Ukraine.Then prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob welcomed the verdict by the Dutch court, saying that it would give some relief and peace to the families of the victims.
