The Albanese government is considering a policy to reserve natural gas as a possible long-term solution to reduce energy prices.

Former Resources Minister Keith Pitt has said the government will not be able to implement a reserve unless all states agree to support the idea.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will meet gas industry representatives today ahead of tomorrow’s parliamentary vote on price caps. He has promised the eastern states and South Australia will receive the majority of the $1.5 billion for proposed bill subsidies.
