Industry and Science Minister Ed Husic says the government wanted to take the edge off energy bills, in which the budget estimated there’d be big leaps.

Last month the Albanese government passed an energy bill to cap gas at $12/gigajoule for a year in a bid to bring soaring household power bills down.

“We -through what we did – wanted to take the edge off what was expected for the trajectory of prices as announced ahead of the October budget,” Mr Husic said during a media conference on Thursday.
