"We are looking at ways in which and working very hard to find ways in which we can get those people to safety and that, obviously, includes working with other countries around the establishment of a humanitarian corridor out of Gaza." Defence Minister Richard Marles said that the government had so far provided flights to about 700 people seeking to flee Israel in the aftermath of Hamas' assault, but added the government did not have"any more planned flights." "Obviously the government has to be conscious of the security considerations and safety considerations for flights getting in and out, and we've seen that from schedule changes over recent days. Mr Marles told the ABC there were"empty seats again" on those planes, leading to Mr Birmingham's call for more information about the number of citizens the government plans to leave in Israel"without plans or assistance in place".
