President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said Friday that the government is monitoring “very closely” the Omicron subvariant XBB.1.5, adding the Covid-19 situation in the country seems to be being handled well.

“So, we’re watching it. Of course, very closely. But so far, mukha naman maayos, mukha namang nama-manage natin ,” Marcos said in an interview after an ocular inspection of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport .The President said the government is not letting its guard down, especially with concerns surrounding the new subvariant. He said the government is taking the same strict approach, just like any other variant.

“What has happened, nag-increase ang occupancy rate ng mga ospital dahil ‘yung hindi nagpa-ospital ng dalawang taon, ngayon pumupunta sa ospital . It’s not for COVID, it’s for other things,” the chief executive said.
