Senator Richard Gordon on Sunday condemned the murder of a 15-year old girl who was killed by motorcycle-riding assailants last July 2 in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.
The teen was reportedly attacked after filing a molestation complaint against policemen from a neighboring town. “We strongly condemn the remorseless killing of a 15-year old girl in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur by riding-in-tandem assailants.
It is abhorrent,” Gordon said in a statement. “It has never been and should never be acceptable that we allow our citizens to be killed mercilessly,” said the senator. Reports show that the girl was attacked on her way from the Cabugao police station where she filed the complaint against two cops from nearby San Juan town. She was shot five times. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. According to Cabugao police, the girl was riding home with her uncle and male cousin. The two policemen also reportedly molested the girl’s cousin. Both her uncle and cousin were not hurt. Gordon said the two cops who were tagged as suspects to the case should be pursued not only for sexual assault or acts of lasciviousness but also for murder.“There are a lot of riding-in-tandem killings which is why we created the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Law, which allows the number plates of motorcycles used in crimes to be easily recognized,” he added. That way, Gordon said criminals can immediately be tracked and identified, and immediate justice delivered for the victims.
