Google has blocked benchmark apps on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, preventing reviewers from testing the performance of the new Tensor G3 chip.

According to the author, Google’s block on benchmark apps has prevented some reviewers from running tests, but others have been able to bypass this limitation by sideloading the apps. As a result, benchmark results for the Tensor G3 have surfaced regardless. The performance disparity is likely due to the fact that the Tensor G3 is manufactured using Samsung’s 4 nm node technology, which is not as efficient as TSMC’s N4P node technology, which is used to manufacture the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
