ICYMI: Goodwill opens pay-by-the-pound outlet in Calgary yyc
Hundreds of Calgary bargain hunters came out for the grand opening of Goodwill’s Calgary Impact Centre and the organization’s second ever outlet store in Western Canada on Saturday, April 15, 2023.Items that fail to sell at Goodwill’s traditional outlets are shipped to the 15,000 sq.-ft. impact centre sales floor where they’re placed unsorted in blue bins to be sold for $1.35 per pound, unless it’s furniture.
Many of the items are material that just didn’t sell at the traditional stores, that could be considered less desirable, but not all of it, said Roxburgh. Robinson, who picked up some wicker furniture, clothing and other items, said the quality was below that in the regular Goodwill stores, “but you can’t complain about the price — I got a massive basket full of stuff for $25.”
