Still too much diesel particulate in Ontario mines: researcher Although the Ontario government has announced that diesel exhaust emissions are going to be lowered in Ontario mines, the Laurentian University researcher heading up the United Steelworkers Diesel Particulate Project says the level of exhaust emissions will still be too high when compared to other modern countries.
City gains traction on diverting waste from landfills The amount of residential waste diverted from Greater Sudbury’s landfill sites has skyrocketed in the past couple decades, from 28 per cent diversion in 2005 to 46 per cent in 2021. The city is currently working on updating their Solid Waste Management Plan to help map a path toward 90 per cent solid waste diversion from city landfill sites by 2050.
Lively woman wins $75,000 lottery prize Mandy Greenhill of Lively is $75,000 richer after winning the top prize playing Instant Casino Cash. The 58-year-old mother told OLGC Prize Centre staff she’s been playing the lottery for mor than 30 years and this is her first big win. “This was a new ticket that I’ve never seen before and I liked how bright and flashy it was, so I wanted to give it a try,” she said in a news release.
