David Solomon is being criticised for his tough management style. But investors are happy.

Goldman Sachs chief executive David Solomon has a mission, according to American banking analyst Mike Mayo, “and that mission is not to be the most-liked person at the firm”.

Solomon is struggling with the former, presumably because employees he has fired or been mean to are talking to journalists. Even the DJing isn’t working any more.on the Insider website was headlined: “Goldman Sachs insiders are fuming over their CEO’s use of private jets to promote his side hustle as a DJ.”

Marcus, which operates under the trademark “You can money”, hasn’t been a great success. It ran into another people problem: customers. For some reason, Marcus is bad at finding customers able or willing to repay their loans.
