The report said that annual inflation rose 6.4% last month. Economists were expecting to see a rise of 6.2%. For the year, core inflation rose 5.6%, its smallest increase in the last 12 months, the report said. January also saw a broad-based increase in energy prices, with the energy index rising 2% last month.
