The armchair critic has a job away from sofa he rarely mentions on the show
The TV star regularly offers his verdict on a range of programmes alongside his wife, Mary Killen. Viewers have been delighted as the couple invited people into their stunning Wiltshire cottage once again for the latest series of the popular Channel 4 programme.
Giles and Mary will return to our screens tonight to cast their eye on another batch of TV shows. Away from the sofa, Mary writes a column for The Spectator and has also had a book published on etiquette titled, How the Queen Can Make You Happy.READ NEXT: HMRC tax warning to 12 million people as refunds could be owed
Mary let slip that Giles was able to retire at an early age on an episode broadcast during an earlier season. They were watching a documentary on coronavirus when Giles said: "Just as I'm starting to enjoy my retirement." Mary shot back: "What retirement? You haven't worked first. You retired at 21, so now you can start working – do it in reverse." However, Giles' personal website reveals he has another job as an artist and he explains what draws him to painting.
He said: "I like the contemplative aspect — sitting for several days in a room, watching the light change. There are as many changes as with a landscape. I always work in oils as they give more depth.
