God of War Laufey: The Jötunn Saga Begins | PlayStation Exclusive 2027

Video Game News

Journey into the afterlife with God of War Laufey. Control the mighty Jötunn warrior as she battles for her family's salvation in a realm dominated by warring gods. With stunning visuals and epic gameplay, this PlayStation exclusive takes the God of War franchise to new mythological heights.

The sequel of a beloved classic game, God of War Laufey is one of the most anticipated games coming to the PlayStation in 2027. It is the 11th installment in the series featuring mythological gods of multiple cultures.

Laufey Takes the Lead

This is also the first God of War game wherein Kratos is not the main playable character. God of War Laufey follows the story of Laufey-a powerful Jötunn (giant) warrior, the wife of Kratos, and the mother of Atreus. She will be exploring the Everywhen-the afterlife of the gods-to fight through to save the life of her loved ones as the gods across mythologies in that realm fight for control over the land.

Laufey will be joined by two companions, Rue and Phranque, throughout her journey. Laufey will be played by American actress Deborah Ann Woll. On September 29, PlayStation opened up pre-orders for the said game. Those who pre-ordered will get special bonuses: Last Wish Armor Set, Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance (cosmetic), and In-Game Resource Pack.

The Digital Deluxe Edition, meanwhile, includes Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, Dark Alchemy Catalyst, In-Game Resource Pack, Digital Mini Artbook, and Official God of War Laufey Digital Soundtrack. The game was first announced by PlayStation back in June 2, 2026 during its State of Play. As of writing, this game is still a PlayStation exclusive.

Game Editions and PlayStation Exclusivity

However, fans still don't lose hope since multiple titles like God of War: Ragnarok became available on Steam, a PC platform. God of War Laufey will be distributed and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and is being developed by Santa Monica Studios. More information about the game is available at PlayStation's blog.
