In observance of World Food Day 2024, Globe Telecom employees packed over 3,060 food packs to aid those affected by disasters in the Philippines. The company's Hapag Movement and Employee Volunteering Engagement Program focused on addressing food insecurity, a pressing issue with 16.8% of Filipinos experiencing moderate hunger and 6.1% facing severe hunger, particularly in Mindanao and Visayas. Globe collaborated with Rise Against Hunger PH, Ayala Foundation, and Tzu Chi Foundation Davao to distribute food, promote digital inclusion, and provide cybersecurity education to vulnerable communities.

In response, Globe mobilized its employees and partners to provide aid to those in need. A food repacking marathon at The Globe Tower, in collaboration with Rise Against Hunger PH, saw 480 employees packing 3,060 food packs, which benefitted 18,360 individuals in disaster-affected areas.Globe volunteers in Cebu City distributed food supplies to 220 families at the Cebu City Operation Second Chance Center and Balay Samaritano, in partnership with the Ayala Foundation.
Additionally, Globe employees partnered with Tzu Chi Foundation Davao to support the Sto. Niño Central Elementary School in Talaingod, Davao del Norte, where they provided food packs and cybersecurity education to 150 parents, including IP members, and facilitated SIM distribution to promote digital inclusion.
“Our World Food Day initiatives reflect Hapag Movement’s mission to alleviate hunger, especially in disaster-stricken and impoverished communities,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s chief sustainability and corporate communications officer. “By mobilizing our employees and collaborating with trusted partners, we provide immediate relief while promoting sustainable development.”
