Globe 917Ventures and Ayala Corporation is bringing the Gogoro Smartscooter with battery-swapping technology to the Philippines.

Gogoro's Smartscooter is coming to the PhilippinesGogoro's Smartscooters, which will begin testing in Metro Manila in Q1 2023, will provide a greener option to the fossil fuel-powered vehicles currently used by the logistics and last-mile delivery sectors. The Gogoro battery swapping platform powers Gogoro Smartscooters through conveniently located swap stations, allowing users to quickly swap out exhausted batteries for fully charged ones in a matter of seconds.

According to 917Ventures, the cooperation aims to lessen the country's logistics sector's reliance on fossil fuels, which are known to emit much more emissions per vehicle per day than consumer transportation. At the moment, Gogoro operates more than 2,260 battery-changing stations across more than 11,000 locations across Taiwan. The number of GoStations has already surpassed the number of petrol stations in Taiwan's major cities, making Gogoro battery switching the de facto industry norm for electric two-wheel refueling in Taiwan. There are currently over 1 million GoStations operating across Taiwan. More than 520,000 users of the Gogoro Network switch more than 370,000 batteries per day.
