Globally heralded concert pianist to inaugurate new Knox Performance Centre

There's something viscerally satisfying about the great classical works of Bach, Brahms, and Scarlatti, and the historic preservation of a heritage building: both hold richness, complexity and communicative power, something to appreciate over time, and each enriches the social and cultural fabric of a community.

Eli Klasner, executive director of the Community Arts Council can't contain his elation about securing an extraordinary talent like Hewitt to premiere the centre's opening. Rev. Dr. Bob Fillier, Lead Minister at Trinity United Church is just as excited. “There has been so much time and effort by so many to get us to this point. Having someone like Angella Hewitt be the first recital and launching of a new era in our ministry is amazing. It’s going to be incredible, a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of us.”

In a lovely serendipitous act, a Northern BC family who owns a mint-condition Fazioli grand piano offered to donate it for the opening for Hewitt to play. "It's just really wonderful," says Klasner. "It will encourage local musicians, performers and arts groups to hold live concerts and performances, and will be a great venue for visiting artists from around the world to perform in."
