Finding space to store thousands of dollars' worth of milk and produce that made its way from Prince Edward Island to the Glace Bay Food Bank this week was not an issue. | SaltWire
But having that empty space has become one due to the increasingly popular services of the food bank.
“If it keeps going up, I really don’t know what people are going to do,” MacRae said about the cost of living. “I hear it every day from my clients. We have working people coming in who are, at this point, can’t make ends meet. I don’t know where it is going to end.”MacRae’s anxiety over an increasing clientele was met with joy and happiness on Wednesday when Keith Roberts pulled up to the food bank with an estimated $9,000 worth of canned milk, potatoes and turnip.
Roberts heard the plea to bring milk donations from ADL in P.E.I. Potatoes and turnips from Compton Brothers Inc. and Harvest Wholesalers were added to his load. Delivered this week milk and produce from Compton Brothers Inc. in Bangor, P.E.I. and ADL , Charlottetown, P.E.I. Lending a hand on Wednesday after a large shipment of food donations were sent to the Glace Bay Food Bank was Nik MacDonald. “I always tell that to the kids that they are representing their community and it is always good to give back.”
