DESPITE its pretended silence and outright indifference, the mammoth and unprecedented rally for peace, in support of President Marcos Jr.'s call for Congress to stop the impeachment proceedings against VP Inday Sara, stunned and jolted the present dispensation.The nine-and-a-half-hour gathering that saw a gigantic sea of humanity trooping to the Luneta Grandstand on Jan. 13, 2025 commenced at 8 a.m. and ended at 5:30 p.m. It was initiated by the powerful religious group Iglesia Ni Cristo .
The impeachment complaints against VP Sara are focused on three impeachable grounds, namely graft and corruption, high crimes and betrayal of public trust. They are all anchored on an alleged illegal disbursement of confidential funds in the Department and Education which she previously headed, as well as in the Office of the Vice President.
