PETALING JAYA: Gerakan will bring up recent racial statements by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang at the Perikatan Nasional leadership meeting, says Dominic Lau, the party’s newly re-elected president. Lau said he will bring up the views of Gerakan’s grassroot members about Hadi’s repeated statements that targeted non-Malay citizens.Speaking to reporters after theresults were announced, Lau urged party members to reunite and cooperate with the new party leaders to work on the coming state assembly elections in six states.
“I hope that all will return to the party, doesn’t matter if you win or lose in this party election, and work as one team. What is important now is to come back together to break our losing streak in these state elections,” said Lau. He said Gerakan will contest in 36 seats in Kedah, Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan. Voters in the four states and in Kelantan and Terengganu will go to the polls on Aug 12 to elect new members of their state assemblies.
