A member of the Georgetown Fire Department was among those encouraging students to stay active.
Students at Georgetown Independent School District are being encouraged to bike or roll to school Wednesday morning.
First responders greeted students and taught them about safety practices like wearing helmets and using the crosswalk. Georgetown ISD also wants people who are out and about on the roads today to be more cautious in school zones and watch out for students. City staff from the transportation department came out to see how people travel to and from school so they can use that data in their plans for updates like sidewalk improvements.
