A festival company which ran events promoted as 'empowering women' is being pursued by workers who say they have not been paid and attendees who say the three-day 'The Gathering of The Goddesses' was far from what was advertised.

Some of those who worked on the Tasmanian TGOTG event said after it ran the organiser became unresponsive, shutting down the festival website and social media pages.

"She [the director] kept constantly reassuring me that everything was fine … I was being paid monthly up until the festival and it all seemed okay," they said. After the event ran, HK said, "she just stopped responding to emails. Then I started getting messages from people saying they hadn't been paid".

"We have restructured our company and are working towards trading ourselves out instead of liquidating the company … Horne wrote the TGOTG was "very poorly managed and executed" and that she was "personally significantly out of pocket for expenses incurred to hold up their promised participation". "Each trip to the festival is wear and tear on your equipment, wear and tear on yourself, and then the energy based on trying to chase this up," Mr Orme said.

"This marks a deeply sad day for the company. The Gathering of the Goddesses has ceased trading with no choice but to take steps to enter into liquidation."
