Senators sign goalie
Korpisalo had a 7-3-1 record with the Kings after arriving in Los Angeles last spring and started all six games in the playoffs. He has a 94-81-5 lifetime record in the NHL with a 3.01 goals-against average.
“It was hectic day today, there were a couple of options, and Ottawa stood up right away,” Korpisalo told TSN’s Free Agent Frenzy. “Playing against them it’s a really capable team that’s only going to get better.Article content “I’m just super-excited to get to work with them. Anton Forsberg is there and I think that’s going to be a good one-two punch right there.”“People thought Korpisalo wasn’t very good a couple of years ago, because he wasn’t, but he had a bad hip,” TSN analyst Mike Johnson said earlier this week. “He got his hip repaired last summer and, all of a sudden, with a normal hip he looks like a better goalie.
“I would put more stock into the way he performed last year rather than what he did two years before when he was playing through a torn labrum. Korpisalo would be a strong signing for them.”“You never know what’s going to happen when you get to unrestricted free agency,” said Korpisalo. “Ottawa just stood out. It’s a team that’s right there, they’ve got a young team and a strong defence. They’re only going to get better.
