That’s why Dorion told reporters recently he wanted to see where the club stood on March 1 before making a decision on which route to take. The Senators have held talks on virtually every defenceman available this season, including Jakob Chychrun of the Arizona Coyotes. There’s no active discussions at the moment but Ottawa would be willing to revisit if Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong showed some flexibility with his price.
The belief is the Jackets had a deal in place with the Bruins to send defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov to Boston, but that fell apart because GM Don Sweeney decided to pursue Orlov and also made a pitch for Chychrun.Article content
