The festival features an abundance of garlic and fresh produce to purchase, a juried art show, live music, food, demonstrations, and a garlic-eating contest. The festival was launched in 2013 in Avondale by Kathy Monroe and it steadily grew in popularity. The pandemic halted the festival, but it resumed in 2022, relocating to Windsor and being hosted by the municipality.
