Der Nachfolger von Xbox Live Gold ist Game Pass Core. Unter neuem Namen gibt es Zugriff auf 36 Spiele.
Xbox Live heißt nun anders, bietet aber im Kern noch dasselbe. Das neue Basis-Abo für die Xbox ermöglicht den Zugriff auf die Multiplayer-Funktionen von Spielen sowie auf Angebote, Rabatte und Ausprobier-Events, bei denen Spiele zeitlich begrenzt kostenlos gespielt werden können. Wie wenig sich ändert, zeigt auch der Umstand, dass Live-Gold-Karten aus dem Einzelhandel weiterhin erworben und eingelöst werden können.
Ein Punkt ändert sich dann allerdings doch. „Games with Gold“, der Zugriff auf zwei bis vier Spiele pro Monat, die während der Laufzeit des Abos ohne Mehrkosten gespielt werden können, entfällt. Der Game Pass Core ersetzt diesen Aspekt durch den Zugriff auf eine kleine Bibliothek von 36 Spielen. Ihr Inhalt soll sich „“, schreibt Microsoft.
Preislich bleibt alles beim alten: Der Game Pass Core kostet wie zuletzt Xbox Live Gold rund 7 Euro im Monat. Der volle Game Pass kostet auf Konsolen vier Euro mehr und ist der einzige relevante Vergleich. Auf dem PC, wo Online-Multiplayer kostenlos angeboten wird, erübrigt sich die Core-Version – sie wird dort erst gar nicht angeboten.
