Local Actor Kevin Noble Passes Away
The St. John’s actor best known for his uncanny likeness and portrayal of former Premier Joey Smallwood, died early Friday following a brief battle with cancer. He was 72.
Noble was featured in the famous Yarns from Pigeon Inlet, and he played cab driver Dolph on the television series Up at Ours, a TV show created by the legendary Gordon Pinsent. But his most notable role was playing Smallwood – which he did on TV, film and the stage, with Joey himself attending Noble’s stage show simply entitled “Joey” in 1982.
Kevin Noble leaves to mourn his wife Daphne, his son — photographer and photo journalist Earl Noble — and grandson Carson, not to mention a large circle of relatives, friends and admirers. The wake is set for Monday and Tuesday at Barrett’s Funeral Home, with the funeral service on Wednesday at Barrett’s Chapel.
