The NSW government expects it to take until the end of next month before the entire fleet of Sydney’s inner west trams is returned to full service, more than a year after they were removed from operation due to extensive cracks.
The inner west light rail line’s entire fleet is yet to return to service, almost a year after cracks were found in the trams.Transport for NSW said that “original critical repair work” to all 12 trams had been carried out, and it aimed to return to a “pre-repair timetable” on the 12.8-kilometre line by the end of November. “We are phasing in their full return to service,” it said.
Last December, the government said that full rectification works to the Urbos trams would be completed before this year’s October long weekend.before the full fleet of trams returned to service.in late October last year after sizeable cracks were discovered in the 12-strong Urbos tram fleet. A reduced level of services resumed in February when trams were borrowed from the CBD and eastern suburbs line.
