The time spent working as bank teller during her first job at St George is fresh in the mind of ING boss Melanie Evans even today.

But Evans says ING is a different case. During the low-interest rate environment, the bank had an “above industry floor” assessment rate. There was never a sense that gender separated the siblings, so when, aged 13, she grew bored watching her brother play indoor cricket on Saturday afternoons, she asked if she could join the team.
