Upon seeing each other, the two men hugged like brothers. One is a retired military general who has fought countless wars; the other is a grizzled warrior who championed his people's right to self-determination. Once on opposite sides of the battlefield, Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. and Bangsamoro Member of Parliament Abdullah 'Commander Bravo' Macapaar now share a vision: peace, progress, and stability for the Bangsamoro .
On December 20, they stood side by side at the Moro Islamic Liberation Front's (MILF) Camp Bilal to lead the groundbreaking for a housing project benefiting former MILF combatants and their families. Part of the Camps Transformation Plan (CTP), the project aims to turn former camps into zones of peace and development under Opapru's Pamana Program. 'This housing project fulfills our plan to transform former camps into peaceful, resilient communities,' Galvez said. He emphasized localized implementation through partnerships with BARMM leaders and the National Housing Authority (NHA). Macapaar expressed gratitude for the initiative, vowing support for peace efforts. Lanao del Norte Gov. Imelda Dimaporo lauded the collaboration, promising livelihood support for combatants. NHA Regional Manager Al-Khwarizmi Indanan noted the project's symbolic importance, likening it to initiatives post-Zamboanga siege and Marawi crisis. 'This transformation proves there's always a chance for peace,' Galvez concluded, commending Macapaar's evolution from warrior to servant leader
