Emergency responders called around 7 a.m. Sunday to the Grosvenor Street entrance of Gibbons Park found Fawcett unresponsive, police said, and he was pronounced dead a short time later. Hendry, a world-renowned Elvis tribute artist, first met Fawcett 34 years ago after moving to London from Sault Ste. Marie. The two bonded over music, playing in bands together and touring Canada during the decades.
One of the high points of Fawcett’s music career came in the early 2000s when he joined Canadian rockers Helix. “Why take one of the kindest? We ALL need more Dutch Fawcett’s in this world, not less,” Pete Young wrote on Facebook.
