Environment Canada is also warning of wind gusts near 70 km/h. The winds are expected Thursday morning and are forecast to diminish by the evening. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.”CLIMATOLOGIST SAYS STORM COULD BE ‘VERY COMPLEX’
“The only uniform thing in all of these areas around the Toronto area is the winds. The winds that would be from the southeast of 50, gusting up to 70, kilometres per hour. “But then soon after noon, it'll switch over to snow, heavy at times. And then by say six o'clock at night, there’ll just be periods of snow and then we'll end with flurries towards Friday morning,” he said. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday morning, Mayor John Tory said they have 1,100 pieces of equipment “at the ready” to deal with the storm.
