Four American civilians were killed in a plane crash at 2:30 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur. One of the deceased was identified as Brandon Dustin from Kansas, USA. Kanishka Gangopadhyay, spokesperson for the United States Embassy in Metro Manila, confirmed that the crashed plane, in Barangay Malatimon in Ampatuan, was contracted by the U.S. military. A reliable source added that the four deceased were personnel of the U.S. Military Intelligence. Both the U.S.
Embassy and the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command confirmed that the four American soldiers were providing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support at the request of the Philippine government. Residents near the outskirts of Maguindanao del Sur and Midsayap, North Cotabato reported seeing the plane flying repeatedly in the area before the crash in Barangay Malatimon. Residents near the crash site examined the plane and found two victims trapped inside. Two more who had approached the crash site also perished before the private plane could be fully investigated. Even a carabao, whose leg was severed by the impact of the crashed plane, was killed in the incident. Jo Apam, a resident of Brgy. Malatimon, said he heard the sound of the plane crashing. Fortunately, no houses or people were damaged in the incident.
