PONTIAN: The Magistrate’s Court here today set Sunday (April 30) for the sentencing of four men, including two brothers, who pleaded guilty to a charge of using criminal force and causing hurt on a policeman on Aidilfitri last Saturday.

The four men pleaded guilty to the charge made against them before Magistrate Nur Azzuin Abdul Moali, who then allowed them bail of between RM1,500 and RM2,000 each pending sentencing at the Kulai Magistrate’s Court

Brothers Mohamed Efendi Mohamed Said, 40, and Muhammad Fazli Mohamed Said, 24, and Khalid Khamis, 38, were jointly charged under Section 353 of the Penal Code with using criminal force to deter Lance Corporal Muhammad Hasrull Mohd Namiri from discharging his duty. They were charged with committing the offence at Kilometre 7, Jalan Kulai heading to Kota Tinggi, near Kulai, at about 3 pm last Saturday .Another accused, Mohamad Haikal Karim, 23, was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to the same policeman at the same time and location.

The charge, framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, provides a jail term of up to a year or a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction.r Deputy public prosecutor Nurezzati Zaini prosecuted while the four accused were unrepresented. - Bernama
