People might be missing out on a social welfare scheme that is worth €580, which entitles the person receiving it to an allowance of €35 each month and a free TV licence
The Household Benefits Package aims to help with the cost of your electricity or gas bill and the TV licence. However, only one person in a household can get the Package.
If you qualify for it, you will receive a free TV licence which will save you €160 a year. People can also get an electricity or gas allowance of €35 each month.If you are aged 70 or over, you can qualify for this. You do not need to be getting a State pension and the package is not means tested.
For people under the age of 70 and living with their spouse, cohabitant or civil partner, you can get the HBP if you are getting a qualifying social welfare payment and:How do you apply for the Household Benefits Package? You can apply online for the Household Benefits Package using MyWelfare.ie, if you have a MyGovID account.
