Griffin optimistic, suggests province could be 'among the first' to ink a health-care deal with Ottawa
Former senator Diane Griffin has been named the new chair of the Health P.E.I. board. FileCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Former senator Diane Griffin has taken over as chair of the Health P.E.I. board, following the resignation of Summerside lawyer Derek Key.
In an interview with SaltWire Network on Jan. 23, Griffin said she was approached about taking on the position in the second week of January. She said she took eight days to think about the decision. "Of course, it's a challenge, but I think health care is really important to Islanders, as we know. So, I decided to accept the challenge."The Health P.E.I. board provides oversight of the health authority and is tasked with conducting a yearly evaluation of the CEO. The board is not directly involved in the day-to-day operation of health care, Griffin said.
