Carl Tamayo caught fire once again for the Changwon LG Sakers while JD Cagulangan turned heads in his Korean Basketball League debut on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Tamayo delivered another stellar output of 31 points and eight rebounds to lead the Sakers’ assault in the third quarter en route to a hard-earned 86-82 win over the Anyang Red Boosters.
The victory erased the bitter taste of a wasted effort for Tamayo in his previous game where he poured a career-high 37 points in their 88-92 loss to the Seoul Samsung Thunders.Jeong In-Deok, Yu Ki-Sang, and Darryl Monroe also starred for the Sakers after tallying 16, 14, and 13 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, Cagulangan impressed in his first-ever appearance for the Sonicboom, putting up an all-around output of seven points, four rebounds, nine assists and five steals which all went down the drain as they yielded to the Thunders, 78-63. The two-time UAAP champion immediately made his presence felt but couldn't rescue his team from absorbing its 12th loss.
Interestingly, the LG Sakers and the Sonicboom will meet each other on Monday, Jan. 13, for a possible showdown of the two former UP superstars. The Skygunners are currently at 9th place, holding a 9-19 win-loss card.
