Former Domain execs cash in property startup for $35 million | zoesam93

Simon Kent and Trent Casson took a gamble leaving their jobs at real-estate listings portal Domain and launching a property tech start-up in a market downturn. But after four years, it looks as though it has paid off.

Kent said the idea was born when the pair were still working at Domain and figuring out what to do after the exit of Catalano, who was chief executive until two months after the portal listed on the ASX in 2018. “One of the products that we built was about servicing residential real-estate agents. We launched it in Melbourne ... and they went to having zero open for inspections, so we couldn’t actually monetise it for a fair chunk of the launch period,” he said.Newcastle Herald

An ASX listing is still on the cards, but is expected to exclude the publishing division, Australian Community Media.
