Brent Lamming was also former CEO at Community First Credit Union

Brent Lamming, the city's director of community services, is expected to be promoted tonight to deputy chief administrative officer for community development and enterprise services.

City councillors will be asked to approve Lamming as replacement for Tom Vair, who left the deputy CAO post at the end of January to become the city's chief administrative officer. "Mr. Lamming has served as the director of community services for just over six years and brings senior level experience from the private sector, a certified management accountant designation and board experience with non-profit organizations in the community to this position at the city," CAO Vair said in a report prepared for tonight's city council meeting.

Lamming has been recommended by a selection committee including Mayor Shoemaker, Ward 2 Coun. Lisa Vezeau-Allen, CAO Tom Vair, city solicitor Karen Fields and Nicole Ottolino, director of human resources.Five candidates were chosen for first interviews. Four were asked to participate in second interviews, which included additional questions as well as preparing a presentation and a written report.Tonight's city council meeting will be live-streamed on SooToday starting at 5 p.m.
