Food prices in the Philippines rose in the third week of December 2024 ahead of the Christmas celebration, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). A kilogram of well milled rice had an average retail price of P54.97 during the second phase of December, up from P54.71 per kilogram in the first phase. Dressed chicken saw an average retail price of P207.80 per kilogram, increasing from P204.69 in the first phase of December and P202.60 in the second phase of November.
A kilogram of bangus rose to P216.14, compared to P213.85 in the first phase of December and P213.22 in the second phase of November. Tomato prices also increased to an average of P163.84 per kilogram, up from P150.94 in the first phase of December.
