The corpse flower is named after its rancid stench, which is described as smelling like rotting flesh by horticultural curator Matt Coulter.READ MORE:The unique flower only blooms for 24 to 48 hours before it starts to wilt. It's unlikely the flower will bloom again soon.
"This is 10 years for one night that it can actually get pollinated and that's why the smell is so strong," he said. The flower's smell has made it notorious amongst plant enthusiasts, with the last blooming season attracting 10,000 people trying to catch the famous stench. "We haven't smelled it yet, we missed it a few years ago when it flowered. So it will be great this time round," said an excited visitor of the corpse flower.Coulter says the best time to see and smell the flower is on its first day and night in bloom.
