More than 400,000 Nova Scotia Power customers were without service Saturday morning, trees were down and roads flooded as the remnants of hurricane Fiona continued to batter Nova Scotia.

Nova Scotia Power staff started working Friday morning at the utility's emergency operations centre in Halifax to plan for and respond to power outages around the province due to hurricane Fiona. - Eric Wynne Half those customers were in Halifax County, and another 80,000 were in the dark in Cape Breton as of 6:30 a.m. as the slow-moving storm continued to batter the province.
