JOHOR BARU: The number of flood evacuees in Johor has increased slightly with all districts in the state experiencing rainy and gloomy weather on Saturday (Jan 28) morning.

The state Disaster Management Committee said that the number has gone up to 3,480 as of 8am from 3,453 four hours ago.

"The number of people seeking shelter at that temporary relief centres statewide has increased by about 29. "However, no new relief centre has been opened since last night and currently the number of centres stand at 35," it said in a statement today. It added that Mersing remains as the district with most number of evacuees with 1,818 victims at 12 relief centres.

"This is followed by Kluang with 735 victims at four relief centres, 417 victims at eight relief centres in Kota Tinggi, 380 victims at four relief centres in Batu Pahat, 115 victims at six centres in Segamat and 15 victims at one relief centre in Tangkak," it said."The weather has been sunny for most of the districts in Johor yesterday up until early Saturday morning," it said.
