Flames forward Mangiapane ‘healthy and ready to go’ as training camp approaches

Calgary Flames winger Andrew Mangiapane after recovering from shoulder surgery: “I think my season is going to be pretty good.”

Like a wicked slice off the tee, Mangiapane’s season took a sudden and unexpected turn-for-the-worse in 2022-23. He was injured during the first month of the campaign.

As the Flames failed to even earn a playoff invite, Mangiapane was included on every list of Calgary’s biggest underachievers. He didn’t use the injury as an excuse then — the injury was hush-hush until after his operation in late April — and still won’t. In fact, on a blue-sky day at Cottonwood G&CC, he was adamant that he didn’t want to dwell on the past.
