Calgary Flames goalie prospect Dustin Wolf will once again start this season in the minors.
What seemed obvious throughout training camp became official Thursday as the Calgary Flames reassigned their prized puck-stopping prospect to their farm team.Wolf has won the AHL’s top-goalie award in back-to-back seasons and was voted MVP on that stepping-stone circuit in 2022-23. While many have argued he has nothing left to prove with the Wranglers, the 22-year-old remains behind Jacob Markstrom and Dan Vladar on the organizational depth chart.
Wolf made a pair of pre-season starts this fall, recording a 1-1-0 record and 3.37 goals-against average. The Flames made five other cuts Thursday, sending forwards Lucas Ciona and Connor Zary and defencemen Yan Kuznetsov and Jeremie Poirier to the AHL’s Wranglers and returning left-winger Sam Honzek — their most recent first-round pick — to the WHL’s Vancouver Giants.Postmedia is committed to maintaining a lively but civil forum for discussion and encourage all readers to share their views on our articles.
