After years of being rivals in the Battle of Florida, Coleman has buried the hatchet with his new Flames teammates in Huberdeau and Weegar.
Huberdeau and Weegar formally introduced themselves to the C of Red in the home portion of Sunday’s split-squad exhibitions against the Vancouver Canucks.
“And then Weegs, he’s just a really solid, well-rounded defenceman. He kind of reminds me of Hany in a way. There’s not many holes in his game. He can bring it offensively. He’s strong defensively. He battles hard. So I think he has a lot to like.”Article content It’s been less than three months since Kadri, as a key piece for the Colorado Avalanche, was spinning laps on the ice with the Stanley Cup hoisted above his head. After such an abbreviated off-season, the Flames won’t rush him into exhibition action.
“I guess if you want to call it a silver lining, that was what it was for me is that I had time to hit the reset button for my body and get some treatment and things that I needed to get done that I hadn’t been able to do for a couple of years,” said Coleman, who contributed 16 goals and 33 points during his first season in the Flaming C and will again be a major part of the middle-six forward cast.
