Music in the Park, astronomy shows, Fiji festival and more are among fun things to do in Burnaby Saturday and Sunday.

If you’re looking for more things to do to make your summer days count, here’s what is happening in Burnaby this weekend to get you up and moving.

This year’s performance, conducted by David Bui, will include a wide range of film-music classics like Monty Norman’s James Bond Theme, William’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone I. Hedwig’s Theme, Star Wars: Suite for Orchestra: III. Imperial March and more, transporting you to other worlds. At 8 p.m. on Saturday, the series of light and laser shows will kick off with VidLaser Zeppellin 360 Fulldome Video, combining new digital laser abstractions with some analog laser imagery from the original 1978 show.

The free festival will bring diverse communities together to revel in Fijian traditions including a Yagona ceremony. There will be live entertainment featuring performances of Polynesian, Melanesian, Meke, Hawaiian and Bhangra dances. Revel in music against the backdrop of Deer Lake Park in the series returning for a second year and featuring classics like Habanera in Carmen by Bizet, Overture from The Magic Flute by Mozart and So anch’io la virtù magica from Don Pasquale by Donizetti.
