Government agencies in the Philippines have reported at least five fatalities from firecracker-related incidents during the New Year's celebrations. The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 125 cases of injuries, with one senior citizen dying from multiple injuries sustained from a Judas belt explosion. The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported 32 pyrotechnic-related incidents, resulting in 24 injured civilians and five fatalities. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) urged local government units to strictly enforce rules and regulations on firecrackers to minimize injuries.
